About

Randy Beckelheimer moved to San Francisco and became interested in Indian Miniature painting as well as classical Hindustani music. He was fascinated by the structure of the music: infinite freedom within strict constraints. His painting became completely non-objective and he continued making color-field abstractions for the next twenty years.

Beckelheimer uses many layers of translucent paint and transparent glazes to capture the color, light, and quiet beauty of the desolate urban landscape. In these paintings, he conveys the beauty and spirit of these landscapes from before they were developed.
