About Arthur Koch
Arthur Koch was born in Miami Florida & has been living in SF for 33 years working as a painter, photographer, and 2d/3d digital artist/animator. After completing his foundation year studying visual art at the City Institute of London and an apprenticeship in Spain he returned to the US and won a scholarship to study art at Columbia College where he earned a BFA in painting & photography. After painting his first mural and helping to restore the Thomas Hart Benton WPA murals at The Missouri State Capitol he moved to SF & worked as an illustrator until he became a 2d/3d Digital Artist/Animator. He continued drawing, painting, & photography keeping a foot in traditional fine art.

For 4 years he taught design, composition, color theory, art history, sculpture, drawing, and painting at The Art Institute of SF and Expression College for Digital Art bridging the gap between traditional and digital art, giving students a foundation in art principals.

He recently opened his own Gallery/Studio in SF and his first commission was a large-scale mural for about the neighborhood he lives in. He also volunteered with Precita Eyes to help paint the mural in front of the New Mexican Museum. Most recently he completed a 12’x42’mural for the Salesforce Transit Center SF, CA, a 19’x12 mural for The Harbor Bay Isle Community Center in Alameda, CA, and a 20’x80’ mural for San Mateo County. He was the winner of the 2019 MUNI Art Contest featuring 8 of his paintings of San Francisco Scenes on 20 MUNI buses running through April 2019.
