The King

A self taught musician found his initial inspiration in church and began his career in 1954. In short time his voice and sexually provocative performance style made him into an international star.

He is the best selling solo artist in music history with over 700 recorded songs. His good looks and charm also led to an acting career in which he stared in 33 movies. “Aloha from Hawaii” and “Viva Las Vegas” are still popular today. Later in his career he often performed in Las Vegas and became synonymous with his white suit and cape.

Following his death, Elvis lives on with his music, movies, stories and Graceland. His home is the second most visited house in the United States after the White House. Remixes of his music top the charts today and gross income continues to exceed $45 million.

In my paintings the subjects are iconic in who they are or what they represent.  However, the real story is what is revealed within the painting.  I use representational symbols to create scenes within paintings to tell the story of the subject.  Like a puzzle, the closer you look, the more symbols you will find.
