About

A small piece of crumpled paper precariously balanced against a background. Scaling up allowed me to enter into a new relationship with the subject matter and offer a range of interpretations to the viewer. Reference points for me were background landscapes in early Quattrocento Italian painting, Mondrian's Pier and Ocean and Domenico Gnoli's large scale close ups of everyday clothing. So small crushed paper can simultaneously be landscape, skyscape and still life.
