About

One of an ongoing series of insignificant curls of paper in chance, precarious arrangements. This composition seemed to have the feel of scrolls from the past and the black background negated shadows to make them appear to float free from gravity in a kind of orbit in space. The low eye level imbued a sense that they may be of significance, so the painting became

a poem on gravitational theory, a hymn to Isaac Newton and above all and most relevently today, a vanitas on theory, which is provisional.
